I have always been interested in how business works. My years working as a Chartered Accountant for BDO Stoy Hayward certainly gave me valuable insight into the inner workings of many different companies across a spectrum of industries. A background in economics, followed by five years working with companies on financial and business assurance projects convinced me of the pivotal role of business in society and the opportunities to maximise the positive contribution companies can make. However, it was a move into an in-house corporate responsibility team that gave me first-hand experience of the challenges that arise in the implementation of a corporate responsibility strategy and the rewards of getting it right.
Since joining Corporate Citizenship in 2008, I have really enjoyed the variety in my work – the clients, the issues they face and the approaches they take. Whether it’s helping corporate responsibility leaders to measure and report their economic impact, or helping companies starting out on their CR journey to identify their impacts and develop their strategies, it has been a brilliant experience so far!
