From the Wings

In February 2006, we launched ‘From the Wings’ – a report into the role that sports and creative activities play in tackling social exclusion amongst young people. This research project was chaired by Lord Ramsbotham and funded by Whitbread, Sport England, Arts Council and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
The report used case studies from across Greater Manchester to look at best practice, but also to understand what these projects need in order to deliver services effectively and to maximum benefit. The report makes a set of recommendations to Government but also calls on decision makers across the public, voluntary and business sectors. In addition the report gives advice to businesses on how they can maximize the impact of partnerships with the voluntary sector.
